  18. I bet they had Chat Rooms on Genie. Right? Perhaps you might be 
  19. interested in some of the IRCs on the "real" Internet. They perform about 
  20. the same function. Newsgroups serve a somewhat different purpose, with a 
  21. decidedly different etiquette. Read a few dozen messages in a newsgroup 
  22. to get the gist of it before posting. Personal introductions are rare in 
  23. technical groups, such as this.
